Three Capalaba Residents Charged After Out-of-Control Teen Party Leads to Hospitalisations
Three Capalaba residents have been charged after a chaotic teenage party left a 16-year-old girl hospitalized and a man in critical condition.
On September 19, a party in Capalaba descended into disorder, prompting police calls around 10:15 pm after reports of a large, unruly crowd and bottles being thrown. Officers found the street filled with cars, drunk teenagers and dangerous driving before entering the property. During the chaos a 16-year-old girl collapsed and was hospitalized at Redland Hospital, later released, and a 43-year-old man from Birkdale who came to collect a teen suffered a suspected heart attack and remains in critical care at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Police charged a 45-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy as the alleged hosts; the adults are accused of organising an out-of-control event and will appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on October 27, while the boy was dealt with under the Youth Justice Act. A 17-year-old from Thornlands was also arrested for assaulting an officer and other offences. Acting Superintendent Jon Kent warned parents and hosts to take responsibility for safety and to seek assistance before situations deteriorate.
