Three fatalities reported after a high-speed car collides with a two-wheeler near Kochi airport
A speeding car struck a motorcycle near Nedumbassery airport in the early hours, killing two women and a man.
In the pre-dawn hours close to Nedumbassery airport, a car traveling at excessive speed collided with a motorcycle carrying three passengers. The victims, Gopika from Palakkad, Devika from Wayanad and Ijaz, a Karnataka native, were taken to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead. The car’s driver, Suhail, was arrested after a medical examination and charged with attempted culpable homicide.
Authorities collected blood and other samples, suspecting the driver may have been under the influence of intoxicants, pending laboratory results. The crash left the two-wheeler shattered and the car badly damaged. Police officials announced plans to boost patrolling around the airport to deter similar overspeeding incidents.
