Three men charged over offensive material displayed at loyalist bonfire

Tyler Somerville (28), Simon Dilworth (58) and John Black (38), all from Moygashel, faced a single charge of displaying written material deemed threatening, abusive or insulting, intended to stir up hatred, under Article 9(1) of the Public Order (Northern Ireland) Order 1987. Their first court appearance took place at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court, where they each confirmed understanding of the charge. A detective constable testified that the evidence linked the three men to the alleged offence.

After a brief mention, the court set bail at under £250 for each, and they were released. A fourth accused will join the case on September 23, with all four expected to travel together for subsequent proceedings. Somerville has received permission to take a one-week holiday booked before his arrest.
