Three men sentenced for manslaughter in 2021 Collingwood Park brawl that killed Carlo Stewart

The Brisbane Supreme Court handed down sentences to three men for the manslaughter of Ipswich father Carlo Stewart, who was shot during a violent dispute over stolen motorcycles.

In a ruling that highlighted the dangers of taking the law into one's own hands, the Brisbane Supreme Court sentenced three participants in a 2021 Collingwood Park confrontation that resulted in the death of Carlo Stewart. Justice Peter Callaghan noted the incident began with a dispute over two allegedly stolen motorbikes and escalated when Brayden Wilson-Knight concealed an illegal firearm at his home. Wilson-Knight was sentenced to nine years for manslaughter and concurrent grievous bodily harm charges, with parole eligibility in 2028.

Tye Bickle, identified as the shooter, received a five-year term suspended for manslaughter and related offences, and was released on parole. The teenage accomplice also received a five-year suspended sentence. The judge criticized the prosecution’s delays and the defendants’ decision to arm themselves, emphasizing the lasting impact on Stewart’s family.
