Three military unions file complaint to Ombudsman over conditions in Ceuta deployment
Three armed-forces associations have lodged a grievance with the Defensor del Pueblo, demanding better information, legal protection and health safeguards for troops stationed in Ceuta.
In the latest hours, three military associations—ASFASPRO, AUME and UMT—presented a petition to the Defensor del Pueblo concerning the conditions faced by personnel deployed in Ceuta. The unions, which sit on the COPERFAS council, argue that troops are not receiving the legally required operational information needed to perform their duties. They also demand legal and personal security guarantees, as well as health-prevention measures against possible physical assaults and disease risks.
An additional grievance concerns the safeguarding of soldiers' identifying data to avoid exposing them, their families or their surroundings. The complaint targets the Ministry of Defence and its minister, Margarita Robles, and references a series of recent operations from the pandemic to natural-disaster responses, highlighting an increasing workload for the armed forces.
