Three new cross-market ETFs launch on Hong Kong Stock Exchange

Three exchange-traded funds tracking cross-border indices were listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Monday, marking the first such offerings in the SAR.

On Monday, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange added three new exchange-traded funds that track cross-market benchmarks: the HKEX Tech & US Tech 100 Index, the HKEX Bursa Malaysia Large Cap Index, and the HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index. The CEO of Hong Kong Stock Exchanges and Clearing, Bonnie Chan, described the debut as a significant step for the exchange’s index offerings and a catalyst for market vibrancy. The Securities Futures Commission’s investment products director, Grace Chan, said the listings demonstrate the sector’s commitment to expanding investment solutions for diverse investor needs.

Both officials noted that the expanded ETF lineup reinforces Hong Kong’s leading position in the global ETF market. The launch reflects continued growth in the city’s equities, ETFs and derivatives landscape.

Why it matters

The new ETFs give investors in Hong Kong direct access to diversified overseas sectors, deepening the market’s product range.
