Three pedestrians killed and one critically injured after a speeding BMW plows into crowd on Mumbai's Coastal Road

A BMW traveling at high speed struck pedestrians on Mumbai's Coastal Road, killing three people and leaving another seriously hurt; the driver has been detained.

Early Sunday morning, a BMW traveling from Marine Drive toward Haji Ali allegedly exceeded the speed limit and collided with pedestrians on Mumbai's Coastal Road near Lotus Jetty at about 5:20 am. The crash resulted in three fatalities—identified as 21-year-old Shanay Gajjal and 17-year-old Dhirya Seth, plus an unnamed 25-year-old man—and left a 20-year-old man in critical condition. All injured parties were rushed to Nair hospital, where the three deaths were confirmed.

Police investigations attribute the loss of control to overspeeding and have arrested the driver. The tragedy highlights ongoing traffic safety challenges on one of the city's major arteries.
