Three stray dogs seized after fatal Yuen Long bicycle attack
Police captured three stray dogs suspected of killing a 27-year-old woman who was cycling home on Pok Wai South Road in Yuen Long.
A 27-year-old woman was fatally mauled by stray dogs while cycling on Pok Wai South Road in Yuen Long on Saturday night. Police apprehended three dogs believed to be involved and handed them over to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD). An assistant director of the AFCD, Jackie Yip, said the dogs will be kept in an animal management centre for observation and that investigators will search for microchips to trace possible owners.
The department expressed deep concern over a recent spate of dog attacks and urged the public to stay calm, avoid eye contact, and retreat slowly if they encounter an aggressive dog. Police have collected evidence at the scene and will cooperate with the AFCD to conduct risk-based patrols in areas where stray animals are suspected.
