Three suspects flee after crash kills volunteer corps member in Bentong
A three-vehicle collision on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik killed volunteer Fazlizal Abdul Samad, after which three men abandoned their car and ran toward a nearby oil-palm plantation.
At about 7.30 am on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik, a Myvi, a Honda HR-V and a Modenas Versys motorcycle collided, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Fazlizal Abdul Samad, a member of the Malaysian Volunteer Corps (Rela). Police say the Myvi swerved into the lane of the Honda and motorcycle, striking the Honda’s right side before crashing into the bike, which propelled Fazlizal onto the left shoulder where he died instantly. The driver of the Honda escaped unharmed, while the three passengers in the Myvi abandoned the vehicle and fled toward an adjacent oil-palm plantation.
District police chief superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar announced a manhunt and appealed for information, noting the case will be prosecuted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Pahang Rela expressed condolences to the victim’s family, noting he was returning home after duties at the Bentong District and Land Office.
