Three Young Lives Lost in Poseidonos Crash as Two 18-Year-Olds Fight for Survival

Around two in the morning, a vehicle carrying five young passengers crashed at the junction of Poseidonos Avenue and Kalypso Street in Glyfada, striking a hotel wall before plunging onto the coastal road. The impact shattered the car and set its engine ablaze, prompting a rapid response from EKAB ambulances, police and fire crews, who freed two occupants trapped in the wreckage. The accident claimed the lives of three victims aged 18, 23 and 26.

The two surviving 18-year-olds were hospitalized at the General State Hospital of Nikaias; one remains in a critical condition on a ventilator after a serious brain injury, while the other is being treated for orthopedic injuries. Authorities are investigating whether a second vehicle was involved, based on friends’ statements that the group had been racing another car and possibly livestreaming the moments on TikTok. A court order may be sought to lift telephone privacy to verify the livestream, and a forensic expert is examining the wreck to determine speed and seat-belt usage.
