Tiger Woods to Appear in Florida Court After DUI Arrest and Rehab

Tiger Woods, 50, is set to appear before Martin County, Florida, Judge Darren Steele on Sept. 8, marking his first in-person court appearance since his March 27 DUI arrest on Jupiter Island. The crash involved his Land Rover rolling over after overtaking a truck, leading to charges of DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful urine test; Woods entered a not-guilty plea. Law enforcement reported bloodshot, glassy eyes, dilated pupils and discovered two hydrocodone pills in his pocket.

After the arrest, Woods received permission to travel abroad for a six-week rehabilitation program in Zurich, Switzerland, before briefly returning home to support girlfriend Vanessa Trump during her breast-cancer announcement and then resuming treatment. In May, Judge Steele ruled that Woods’s prescription drug history will be admitted as evidence despite his attorney’s privacy objections. The case underscores the legal and health challenges facing the famed golfer.
