TikTok adds voice, polls and photo carousel to its comment section

TikTok is rolling out new comment features, including voice messages, polls, photo carousels and Live Photo comments, to boost interaction.

TikTok unveiled a suite of upgrades to its comments area, aiming to turn it into a more engaging space. Users can record voice comments of up to a minute by tapping a microphone icon, and listeners can play them directly under videos. Creators may add polls to their own comments, offering up to five choices and setting a voting window.

The new photo carousel lets commenters attach up to nine images at once, while Live Photo comments provide a brief animated preview before the full picture appears. All features are being rolled out worldwide within the next month for accounts 18+, and they will be monitored under TikTok’s existing Community Guidelines using both human review and automated tools.

Why it matters

The updates aim to increase user interaction and time spent on TikTok by making comments more dynamic.
