TikTok-fueled rumors spark false claims of a new Yellow Vest protest
Social media posts featuring AI-generated flyers have been circulating, falsely suggesting a large Yellow Vest demonstration, but no official group has organized it.
Recent online chatter has linked the Yellow Vest movement to a supposed mass protest, driven by AI-generated images and TikTok promotion. Despite the buzz, no authentic Yellow Vest organization or its social-media pages have announced any gathering. The most popular visual, posted by a profile called “Représentant des gilets jaunes,” garnered close to 24,000 likes and only shares AI-produced graphics.
Researchers found roughly twelve additional accounts using Yellow Vest-related names and imagery, all created or rebranded simultaneously and exhibiting typical patterns of coordinated bot activity. These accounts have been spreading calls for nationwide mobilization and listing meeting points in major French cities, but the content appears to be a fabricated rumor rather than a genuine movement initiative.
