TikTok marks a decade of global dominance and record user engagement
TikTok celebrated its 10th anniversary, remaining one of the most downloaded apps worldwide and leading in daily screen time.
TikTok, the short-form video app created by ByteDance in 2016, marked its tenth birthday on Sunday, underscoring a decade of rapid growth. It holds the second spot among the world’s most downloaded applications in 2025, trailing only ChatGPT. The service is available in 155 countries and supports 75 languages, cementing its global reach.
According to We Are Social and Meltwater data, TikTok users open the app around ten times per day and log an average of 1 hour and 37 minutes of usage, the highest daily screen time of any app. Preliminary figures for 2026 suggest the average daily usage remains close to 1 hour and 33 minutes. In France, about 33% of the population are active users, 36.9% of French internet users are 18 or older, and 11% consider TikTok their preferred social platform.
