TikTok pharmacist warns of potentially fatal ramipril side effects

TikTok influencer and pharmacist Raj Patel issued a warning about ramipril, a medication prescribed for high blood pressure, heart failure, and post-heart-attack care. He explained that dizziness or light-headedness often occurs, especially at treatment initiation or dose escalation, but persistent or severe episodes should not be ignored. Patel also alerted viewers to signs of a serious allergic response, including facial, lip or throat swelling, breathing problems, and jaundice.

The NHS lists these among other possible side effects such as cough, headaches, and skin rash, and stresses that sudden swelling or breathing trouble requires emergency assistance. Patients are urged to monitor their blood pressure, sit or lie down if dizzy, avoid driving, and consult a doctor or pharmacist before changing their regimen.
