TMK Energy reports 11% rise in Mongolian gas output as pilot wells hit records

TMK Energy announced that its fully owned Gurvantes XXXV coal-seam gas project in Mongolia recorded an 11% jump in daily gas flow, with weekly averages exceeding 900 cubic metres (about 32,000 scfd). Three of the seven pilot wells, alongside the flagship LF-07, are now delivering record-high rates, reflecting broader desorption across the field as water extraction reduces pressure. The pilot has demonstrated sustained water production, falling pressure and rising gas output, suggesting wells are communicating through the reservoir.

TMK’s chief executive Dougal Ferguson said the trend strengthens confidence in the project's commercial potential. The firm plans a drilling and re-completion campaign in 2026, including optimized designs and re-completing LF-02, LF-03 and LF-06, and will launch a 1-megawatt gas-to-power plant with Dashvaanjil Group to supply early electricity. Management is also negotiating with regulators to convert the discovered 2C contingent resource into reserves and secure an exploitation licence.
