Toddler Drowns in Lanzarote Vacation Rental Pool, Police Launch Investigation

A three-year-old girl from a Chinese family drowned in the pool of a tourist property in Tinajo, Lanzarote, just two days after arriving on the island. Her parents discovered her motionless face-down after she apparently wandered away from them. Local police officers performed CPR on site, and paramedics continued advanced resuscitation for about 20 minutes, but she was pronounced dead at Dr. Molina Orosa hospital. The water-safety group Canarias 1500km of Coastline reported the tragedy and noted the child could not swim. Spanish police have opened a formal investigation into the circumstances of the death.
