Toddler Falls Through Unsecured AC Vent in Ghaziabad High-Rise, Dies
A three-year-old boy died after slipping through an open air-conditioning vent on the 17th floor of a flat in Ghaziabad.
Around 8.30 pm on Sunday, a three-year-old boy in a rented 17th-floor flat in Ghaziabad fell through an open air-conditioning vent after the unit was taken out for repairs. The shaft was left unsealed, and the child, playing nearby, slipped into it and dropped to the ground level. Residents heard a loud crash, located the child and hurried him to the nearest hospital, where he was declared dead.
Shailendra Singh, the SHO of Wave City police station, said the family chose not to request an autopsy or lodge a complaint. Initial findings indicate the vent was positioned near the floor rather than at typical ceiling height, prompting a deeper investigation. The child's father works as a businessman, and the incident has left the family in shock.
