Toddler found dead in South Chicago home as investigation begins
A 1-year-old girl was discovered unresponsive in a South Chicago residence early Friday and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Authorities responded to a home on South Muskegon Avenue around 6:50 a.m. and found the infant, identified as Za’niya Evans, not breathing. Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office transported her to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was declared deceased. An investigation is under way and the autopsy findings have not yet been released.
