Toddler Noah Woods found dead after fleeing playground in Suffolk
A three-year-old boy who ran away from a Brantham play area was recovered dead from a nearby lake the day after his disappearance.
On September 15, three-year-old Noah Woods left a playground in Brantham, Suffolk, after a relative attempted to keep up with him and shouted his name. He passed through a gap in the fence and an open gate, moving toward the local Decoy Pond. Despite a massive search effort that mobilised around 1,300 members of the public, he disappeared from sight after about 200 metres.
The following day, Met Police divers located his body five metres from the pond’s bank, entangled in submerged tree roots, and paramedics declared him dead at 4.31 pm at Ipswich Hospital. A post-mortem at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge listed the cause of death as pending further investigation. The inquest, attended by Assistant Coroner Jyoti Gill, expressed condolences to the family, which includes his mother Charlie Peck and a baby brother.
