Toei Animation denies licensing any Dragon Ball theme park in France

Toei Animation, a rights holder for the Dragon Ball franchise, announced that it has not authorized any licence for a Dragon Ball-themed park in France, contradicting earlier optimism about the project. The statement, released on 31 August, emphasized that neither Toei nor other rights owners have approved such a venture. The denial comes after the French government and Saudi Arabia publicised plans for three new amusement parks near Cergy-Pontoise, with officials suggesting one could showcase Dragon Ball.

Regional leader Valérie Pécresse expressed enthusiasm for the investment, while the Saudi Qiddiya Investment Company, which is developing the parks, has not mentioned Dragon Ball in its own communications. The studio’s clarification means the French park cannot use the franchise’s characters or name without a formal agreement, even though a separate Dragon Ball park is already under construction in Saudi Arabia.
