Tokyo International Film Festival to Open with Zeze Takahisa's 'Sukiyaki' and Close with Yeon's 'Colony'

The 39th edition of the Tokyo International Film Festival is set to begin on Oct. 26 with a gala presentation of Zeze Takahisa’s music drama 'Sukiyaki', which dramatizes the story behind Kyu Sakamoto’s internationally successful 1963 hit. The festival will conclude on Nov. 4 with Yeon Sang-ho’s zombie action horror 'Colony', a film that earned acclaim after its Cannes Midnight Screening debut. Programming director Ichiyama Shozo also announced a special Centerpiece slot for Takashi Yamazaki’s 'Godzilla Minus Zero', the first Japanese IMAX-produced sequel to the Oscar-winning 'Godzilla Minus One'.

The lineup highlights both historic Japanese pop culture and contemporary Korean genre cinema. The festival runs from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 in Tokyo, Japan.
