Tokyo launches Japan Weeks 2026 to boost global finance and sustainable investment
Japan Weeks 2026 kicked off in Tokyo, featuring over 100 finance events aimed at drawing foreign capital and positioning the city as a leading asset-management centre.
Japan Weeks 2026, now in its fourth year, launched on October 26 in Tokyo with a schedule of over 100 finance-related events ranging from investment seminars to climate-change conferences. The Financial Services Agency created the series to lure foreign talent, capital and firms, and to cement Tokyo’s status as an asset-management hub. Highlights include the Tokyo Sustainable Finance Forum, where Ryo Saeki pointed to Tokyo’s issuance of a resilience bond in an overseas market and stressed the need for international certification to fund climate measures.
The core week also hosts the FSA Investment Forum Japan, featuring FSA Commissioner Yutaka Ito and Japan Exchange Group CEO Hiromi Yamaji, and an Asset Management Forum expected to draw about 500 investors. The SOHN Tokyo 2026 conference debuted in Roppongi, showcasing high-growth companies and featuring ASICS chairman Yasuhito Hirota discussing governance changes. Recent revisions to Japan’s Corporate Governance Code aim to move beyond token outside directors, a theme the FSA will reaffirm during the forums. Collectively, the events signal Japan’s ambition to transition its economy toward growth and greater global financial integration.
