Tom Hardy Returns for Season Three of Controversy-Stirred MobLand

After rumors of his dismissal, Tom Hardy has confirmed his return to Paramount+ series MobLand for a third season.

MobLand, the Paramount+ crime drama that premiered 18 months ago, has weathered off-screen drama as much as on-screen violence. Rumors that Tom Hardy was axed over anger about his diminished role were dispelled after Helen Mirren publicly supported him and the network confirmed his participation in a third season. While the sophomore season, streaming from September 18, gives Hardy’s fixer Harry Da Souza a more ensemble-type presence, the series still follows the Harrigan family’s chaotic underworld in North London.

The show remains a stylized, melodramatic take on mob life, buoyed by performances from Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Toby Jones, among others. Creator Ronan Bennett and overseer Jez Butterworth keep the narrative’s blend of hackneyed crime tropes and hyperbolic humor, delivering a watchable, if derivative, addition to the genre.
