Tom Kim battles jet-lag to post-round 67 as Asian Games golf kicks off

In the first round of the Asian Games men’s individual golf competition, South Korea’s Tom Kim posted a three-under 67 despite having slept only six hours in the previous 48 hours after traveling from the Presidents Cup. He shared the seventh-place tie with Keira Nakajima of Japan, while defending champion Taichi Kho of Hong Kong carded a 69 and thrilled spectators with a hole-in-one on the par-three seventh, watched by his mother and father.

Leading the field were Wang Wei-hsuan of Taiwan and Japan’s Kazuki Higa, each posting a five-under 65. The tournament, held at Kasugai Country Club, also features a team competition where Japan currently tops the standings, and a gold medal could exempt the winner from mandatory military service.
