Top Indian credit cards unveil Diwali discounts on travel, electronics and online shopping

Major Indian banks and card issuers are promoting Diwali-season discounts on travel bookings, consumer electronics and e-commerce purchases, with varying caps and eligibility rules.

BankBazaar’s October 24 data shows that leading Indian credit-card providers are rolling out Diwali promotions across travel, electronics and online retail categories. Kotak Mahindra cards can deliver up to ₹20,000 off select travel bookings, while HDFC’s EASYEMI programme offers up to ₹15,000 discount at Vijay Sales. SBI Card advertises a maximum ₹16,000 reduction on purchases at Bajaj Electronics, and ICICI promises a 10% cut on Amazon orders capped at ₹11,250.

The offers are subject to minimum transaction amounts, specific card variants and EMI requirements, with caps that differ by merchant and product type. Shoppers should calculate the net saving after factoring in any interest, processing fees or other charges, and verify whether the discount can be combined with existing sales or exchange benefits. The varied terms mean the headline-level discount may not always represent the best overall value for a given purchase.

Why it matters

Consumers can maximize Diwali savings by understanding the specific caps, spend thresholds, and EMI conditions of each credit-card offer.
