Tornado touches down in Ulladulla amid severe storms across New South Wales

A brief tornado rolled through Ulladulla on the NSW South Coast, toppling trees and damaging buildings as the state faced widespread severe thunderstorms.

On Saturday afternoon, a short-lived tornado swept through the coastal town of Ulladulla, knocking down trees and harming structures. Local mother Wishaya La Spina captured the phenomenon on her phone while shielding her infant from the sudden gusts. The incident occurred as the Bureau of Meteorology warned of severe thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts across central and south-eastern New South Wales, including major urban areas such as Sydney and Wollongong.

Forecasts called for large hailstones, heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding in several districts later in the day. The NSW State Emergency Service logged more than 80 storm-related reports, the majority originating from Ulladulla, and has positioned resources to respond to additional damage. Authorities continue to monitor the weather system as it moves inland.
