Toronto officer wounded after suspect fires during early-morning e-bike robbery chase

A Toronto police officer was shot and hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries while responding to a stolen e-bike robbery early Thursday.

Police were dispatched to a robbery report involving a stolen electric bike around 3:21 a.m. near Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street. During the encounter, a suspect discharged a firearm, striking an officer. The injured officer was taken to hospital and is recovering. Paramedics declined to comment, directing inquiries to police. The suspect has been taken into custody and a gun was seized at the scene.
