Tottenham pushes for £140m double signing of City forwards Marmoush and Savinho
Tottenham Hotspur is racing to complete a combined deal worth around £140 million for Manchester City forwards Omar Marmoush and Savinho before their next match.
Tottenham Hotspur is attempting a high-profile double acquisition of Manchester City forwards Omar Marmoush and Savinho, a deal that could top £140 million, to give Roberto De Zerbi the attacking options he has demanded. Marmoush, signed by City for £59 million, saw limited action last season, mainly as Erling Haaland’s understudy, while Savinho impressed with 13 assists in his first Premier League campaign despite an injury-hit follow-up.
Both players took part in City’s preseason under new boss Enzo Maresca and are said to be at a good fitness level, although Savinho missed the Community Shield because of illness. Spurs need to finalize and register the transfers by midday on Friday to have them eligible for the upcoming Brentford fixture at the Gtech Community Stadium. The club’s pursuit has been fueled by De Zerbi’s admiration for their speed and pressing, and former striker Mido previously urged former chairman Daniel Levy to target Marmoush. Additional targets such as Cody Gakpo remain on Tottenham’s radar as they aim to solidify their attack early in the season.
Why it matters
The signings could reshape Tottenham's attacking options and influence the Premier League transfer market early this season.
