Tottenham winger Mykhailo Mudryk suffers ankle injury during training

Tottenham Hotspur's loan signing Mykhailo Mudryk injured his ankle in a training session and is expected to miss the rest of the international break.

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that Mykhailo Mudryk, the Ukrainian winger loaned from Chelsea, suffered an ankle injury during a training drill. The 25-year-old, who previously played under Roberto De Zerbi at Shakhtar Donetsk, made a brief 15-minute appearance in a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest before the setback. De Zerbi described the injury as “stupid” and expressed hope for a swift return, noting the club’s need for the player after a poor start to the season.

Mudryk’s career had been interrupted by a doping case involving meldonium, which led to a four-year ban that was later reduced after arbitration. Tottenham sit 17th after three league games and will host Everton while Mudryk recovers.

Why it matters

Spurs lose a key attacking option as they struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table.
