Touring Musician Discovers Heart Valve Leak After Urgent Care Visit
Marc Gaudisosi sought help for lingering fatigue at a CVS Minute Clinic, where a nurse detected a heart murmur that led to a diagnosis of mitral valve regurgitation and subsequent surgery.
Long-time musician Marc Gaudisosi experienced persistent fatigue and shortness of breath, which he initially blamed on touring and a possible sinus infection. A visit to a CVS Minute Clinic in January 2025 revealed a heart murmur, leading his primary care physician to confirm the abnormality and send him for cardiology assessment. Tests in February identified mitral valve regurgitation, a condition his mother Jean had faced in 1998 and required emergency surgery.
Cardiologist Dr. Jordan Bloom suggested a possible genetic link and arranged for surgeon Sabet Hashim, who had previously repaired Jean's valve, to operate on Marc. The July 22, 2025 mitral valve repair proceeded without complications, and a year later Gaudisosi is fully recovered, back to touring and recording. He will continue routine cardiac follow-ups but expects no further valve issues.
