Tourist boat capsizes near Santa Marta, all passengers rescued

A tourist boat carrying more passengers than allowed capsized in rough seas between the secluded cove of Playa Inca Inca and the busy resort area of El Rodadero near Santa Marta, Colombia. As the vessel rolled, passengers were thrown overboard or jumped to escape, while a nearby boat's crew shouted safety instructions and ensured life jackets were worn. Rescue boats responded promptly, pulling everyone from the water and confirming that no one was hurt, though several phones, wallets and other valuables were lost.

Santa Marta Harbour Master Julio Monroy said the incident occurred despite prior warnings about hazardous maritime conditions and that all local vessels assisted the rescue. An investigation into the overload and the cause of the capsizing began on Monday.
