Toyota initiates global recall of 655,000 Camry models over display glitch

Toyota announced a worldwide recall of about 655,000 Camry vehicles after discovering that the 7-inch display combination meter can remain blank during startup, which disables turn signals, hazard lights and several driver-alert systems. The majority of the recalled cars are 2025-2026 Camry Hybrids sold in the United States, where over 508,000 units are affected. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warned that the loss of these indicators could raise the risk of collisions and hinder other road users from interpreting a driver’s intentions.

Toyota Motor North America will send letters to owners starting Sept. 21 and expects to finish notifications by early October, offering a complimentary software update at certified dealerships. The affected vehicles were built from December 2023 through July 2026 at three facilities located in the United States, Japan and Thailand, and the recall spans markets in North America, the Middle East, Asia and additional regions.
