Toyota supplies wheelchair-friendly portable toilets for Asian Para Games opening
Toyota Motor Corp will provide towable, wheelchair-accessible portable toilets at the Asian Para Games opening ceremony in Nagoya.
Toyota Motor Corp announced that it will install six mobile, wheelchair-compatible toilets for the Asian Para Games opening in Nagoya, central Japan. The portable units are small enough to fit in a single car parking space, stand 2.3 metres tall and can be towed by any driver holding a regular licence. Designed with a low floor, an 80-centimetre-wide ramp at a 5-degree incline, handrails and enough interior space for a full 360-degree turn, the toilets aim to let athletes, officials and visitors use facilities independently.
Each unit includes a 90-litre water tank that supports roughly 100 flushes and a foldable stand for diaper changes, and can be linked to existing water and sewage infrastructure. Toyota previously deployed similar units in disaster-stricken areas of Kumamoto Prefecture, where they were praised for cleanliness and spaciousness.
Why it matters
