Toys “R” Us to launch new standalone store at Northridge Fashion Center

Toys “R” Us announced a new standalone location on level 2 of the Northridge Fashion Center in the San Fernando Valley.

Toys “R” Us is set to open a new standalone store on the second level of the Northridge Fashion Center in the San Fernando Valley, as indicated by a sign placed in front of a former Sephora storefront. The location will sit close to Foot Locker and Sephora, distinct from the retailer’s existing small outpost inside the mall’s Macy’s. Social media reactions range from calls for a retro toy section for adults to skepticism about recapturing the original store experience.

After a brief resurgence with locations in New Jersey and Texas in 2019, the chain shut those stores in 2021 amid the pandemic, later forming a partnership with Macy’s to host outlets inside the department store chain. Toys “R” Us now appears in all U.S. Macy’s locations and maintains several standalone flagship stores across the country.

Why it matters

The new store expands Toys “R” Us’s physical presence, reviving a familiar brand for shoppers in the region.
