Train-truck collision near Debrecen forces bus replacements and disrupts regional travel

A passenger train collided with a truck at a railway crossing near the town of Kismacs, close to Debrecen and the 33rd main road. Debrecen’s professional fire brigade assisted the fifteen passengers in leaving the train safely. The impact released a large amount of motor oil and wreckage onto the road surface, and authorities powered down the rails for safety.

The state disaster protection agency confirmed the shutdown, while MÁVINFORM announced that journeys on the Füzesabony-Debrecen line will take longer and that replacement buses will run between Debrecen and Látókép (Macs) this afternoon. In a separate incident on highway 4 between Kaba and Hajdúszoboszló, two vehicles collided, injuring five people; the affected stretch was initially closed across its full width before traffic was allowed on a single lane. Both accidents disrupted regional transport and required emergency response.
