At Bristol Crown Court, James Groves, who goes by the name April, was sentenced to 20 years and six months in prison after a jury convicted him of 18 child sex offences, including nine counts of rape, and one charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice. The crimes involved a sustained grooming and manipulation of a vulnerable young girl, who later described losing large parts of her childhood due to the trauma.
The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict Groves' future conduct.
