Transport Ministry launches open competition for head of National Transport Centre

The transport ministry has issued an open tender for the director of the Országos Közlekedési Központ, the national transport hub established in the summer. According to the minister, the role will focus on renewing organisational and institutional mindsets, requiring a leader capable of steering a cultural shift that brings domestic public transport into the 21st century. The job posting is publicly available on the ministry’s site, and the eligibility requirements are intentionally not overly restrictive. The OKK aims to become a modern service-organising centre that prioritises passenger needs and could oversee operators such as MÁV, GYSEV and Volán, similar to the impact the BKK had on Budapest’s transit system.
