Transport Workers Union Secures Recognition for Orlando Airport Fuelers and Mechanics

The Transport Workers Union announced that Menzies voluntarily recognized the union for its Orlando International Airport fuelers and mechanics, a group of roughly 60 employees. This follows the union's earlier organization of PrimeFlight fuelers, who secured a 15% pay raise, vacation pay and guaranteed sick time. TWU president John Samuelsen highlighted the achievement as part of a broader recruitment drive that has added nearly 400 members in the past week, including municipal staff in Brick Township, New Jersey, and diesel mechanics in New York City.

The union also expects to add about 1,000 flight attendants from the Allegiant/Sun Country merger and already represents thousands of flight attendants at major carriers. TWU continues to negotiate with American Airlines fleet workers, with contract discussions slated to begin in January. The organization now counts about 80,000 airline workers and roughly 165,000 members overall.
