Trial begins for man accused of stabbing Surrey woman to death

Adam Mann pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the June 2024 stabbing of Tori Dunn in Surrey, and his trial has started.

Adam Mann, 42, entered a Surrey courtroom on Monday and denied the second-degree murder charge linked to the June 16, 2024 stabbing of Tori Dunn. According to the Crown, Dunn was attacked inside her Port Kells residence after returning from a birthday dinner with her boyfriend, Trafford Wace, who later recounted hearing her scream and seeing a man confronting her. Wace identified Mann by his grey sweatshirt, toque and stubble, and noted a shiny object in the suspect’s hand.

Const. Jay Mander testified that officers moved Dunn from the living room to the grass before she was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to a two-inch abdominal wound. Mann was located within half an hour, less than a kilometre from the scene.

Justice David Layton highlighted Mann’s Black and Indigenous heritage to the jury. The Crown will present further police testimony and a forensic pathologist as the three-week trial proceeds.
