A murder trial started in the Drôme assize court involving three men linked to the death of 16-year-old Zakaria, who was fatally stabbed while attempting to break up a fight in Romans-sur-Isère. The primary accused, Adel Gouirini, faces charges of voluntary homicide, while his father, Boutaleb Gourini, is prosecuted for complicity in voluntary violence. The father had traveled to the La Monnaie district with his two older sons and son-in-law, Abdherrahim Assmy, to confront a youth he believed was harassing his younger child.
According to investigators, the older son initiated the first blow, and the situation quickly spiraled, prompting Adel Gouirini to produce a knife that struck Zakaria in the heart. The son-in-law is also charged with aiding the suspects' escape. Zakaria's family, represented by lawyer Guillaume Fort, described the teenager as generous and opposed to violence, and they are seeking justice for his death.
