TRM Labs' valuation jumps to $2 billion as AI-driven crime platform expands
San Francisco startup TRM Labs said its latest funding round has doubled its valuation to $2 billion, driven by rapid growth in AI-based crime-fighting services.
TRM Labs, a San Francisco-based firm that helps police trace cryptocurrency crimes, announced that an add-on to its September Series C financing has pushed its valuation to $2 billion, up from $1 billion. CEO Esteban Castano said the surge reflects the company’s fast-growing AI division, which complements its longstanding blockchain intelligence services. The startup is preparing to unveil an AI-driven investigations platform designed to uncover AI-enhanced financial fraud, sextortion and child sexual-abuse schemes, with a public launch slated for November.
Castano emphasized that AI is a second growth engine, not a strategic shift, and highlighted the firm’s broader focus on mapping criminal networks that use crypto, from hackers to wildlife poachers. With roughly 500 employees and offices in San Francisco, London, Singapore and Washington, DC, TRM Labs aims to reach $100 million in annual recurring revenue within weeks and uses its data, banking ties and law-enforcement relationships to expand its mission. The latest funding came from existing backers, though the exact amount was described only as “modest.”
