Truck laden with steel bars brings down footbridge in South Cotabato
A footbridge in Barangay Denlag, Lake Sebu collapsed on Oct. 24 while an Isuzu Elf truck carrying steel bars was crossing it, leaving residents to use a temporary bamboo walkway.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the footbridge over a river in Barangay Denlag, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato gave way as an Isuzu Elf light-duty truck loaded with steel bars passed. The collapse forced locals to rely on a makeshift bamboo crossing. Sangguniang Kabataan councilor Jericho Palmaera Layang reported that the bridge section failed suddenly, taking the vehicle down with it. The steel bars were intended for a new multipurpose building in the community.

The collapse cuts off a vital river crossing for residents, exposing infrastructure weaknesses in a remote community.
