Truck plows into Durga procession in Karnataka, killing three and injuring over ten

A truck struck a Durga Mata idol procession near Belagavi, killing three devotees and wounding more than ten people, with four in critical condition.

A truck rammed into a Durga Mata idol procession near the Hattaragi toll plaza in Hukkeri taluk, Karnataka, killing three devotees—identified as Prakash, Mahesh and Daneshwari—and injuring more than ten others, four of whom remain in critical condition. The procession was heading back to Hunchyanatti village after transporting the idol from Belagavi when the vehicle struck it from behind. Victims were rushed to Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences and several private hospitals for treatment, while some injured persons have yet to be identified.

Police from the Yamakanamaradi station are investigating the circumstances of the crash. A separate road accident in the same taluk involved a state transport bus and a tipper truck on National Highway 48 near Sankeshwar, resulting in the bus driver's death and twelve passenger injuries.
