That legislation introduces a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 for contributions to nonprofit entities that provide scholarships for education-related services.
The scholarships can be used to cover tuition, textbooks, and other basic expenses at elementary and secondary schools, regardless of whether they are public, private, or religious. White House spokeswoman Liz Huston said the event celebrates the start of the new academic year and the nation’s most extensive expansion of education freedom.
