Trump appoints Adam Telle as acting secretary of the U.S. Army

Late Thursday night, President Donald Trump declared that Adam Telle would take over as acting U.S. Army Secretary effective immediately. Telle, who presently serves as the assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, was lauded by Trump as a great patriot admired by many. His résumé includes over 20 years of service to Republican senators and a stint in the White House during Trump’s first term as the president’s chief liaison to the Senate.

The appointment follows the departure of Dan Driscoll, who exited the position after 18 months. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted a congratulatory message on social media, calling Telle strong, smart, and an immediate asset to the Army. The Army Secretary oversees the department’s daily operations, budget, and administrative matters, guiding the nation’s largest fighting force amid ongoing conflicts, including tensions with Iran.
