Trump inaugurates new White House helipad ahead of UN General Assembly
President Donald Trump held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new helicopter landing pad on the White House South Lawn and used it to depart for the UN General Assembly.
On Monday, President Donald Trump presided over a ribbon-cutting on the White House South Lawn to unveil a new helicopter landing pad. Using oversized gold scissors, he cut a red, white and blue ribbon before boarding Marine One for the inaugural flight from the site. Trump posted on Truth Social, praising Lockheed Martin CEO Jim Taiclet and the Washington, D.C., construction crews, including Clark Construction, for delivering the "very beautiful" helipad.
The addition follows a broader push to upgrade federal facilities, such as a proposed White House Ballroom and recent restorations of the Lincoln Memorial statues, the Reflecting Pool, and nearby fountains. The president is scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York City the following day.
