Trump launches US 'Super Intelligence Force' amid AI safety concerns
President Donald Trump announced a new "Super Intelligence Force" to steer U.S. AI leadership, prompting expert Ozlem Tekindor to warn of risks if regulation lags behind rapid development.
President Donald Trump declared the formation of a "Super Intelligence Force" on Oct. 4, intended to centralize U.S. initiatives in cutting-edge artificial intelligence and preserve national technological dominance. Turkish AI expert Ozlem Tekindor warned that the speed of AI advancement could exceed the development of controls, raising significant safety concerns. She stressed that without clear rules, rapid growth in AI could outstrip governmental capacity to evaluate associated risks.
Tekindor also noted that other nations might accelerate their own AI programs in response, intensifying strategic competition. The expert warned that viewing superintelligence primarily as a strategic weapon could outpace the creation of international security safeguards, affecting intelligence, defense, cybersecurity, and policy decisions.
