Two insiders indicate President Trump may announce the United States' use of South Korea's strategic investment fund for a series of large-scale projects, potentially as soon as Wednesday. The package is expected to feature roughly $54 billion earmarked for an Alaska liquefied natural gas project, alongside other initiatives outlined in the bilateral trade agreement that promises $300 billion of Korean investment in exchange for lower U.S. tariffs.
Washington and Seoul have been aligning their messages ahead of the reveal. The South Korean industry ministry told lawmakers that a massive gas-fired power plant in Texas will be the first undertaking, while plans for eight nuclear reactors and a second LNG project in Alaska are also on the table.
