Trump mocks Fauci with six-year-old baseball pitch video on Truth Social
Donald Trump posted a 2020 clip of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s poor first-pitch throw, using it to renew his criticism of the former White House health adviser.
Donald Trump, now 80, reignited his long-standing feud with Dr. Anthony Fauci by posting a six-year-old video on Truth Social in which the 85-year-old former NIAID director throws a first pitch that lands well short of the plate. Trump mocked the clip, calling Fauci a “phony” and suggesting his athletic claims were false. The footage dates back to July 24, 2020, when the Washington Nationals faced the New York Yankees on a pandemic-delayed Opening Day.
The criticism comes amid renewed Republican scrutiny after Senator Rand Paul released portions of Fauci’s pandemic diaries, prompting a “MAGA firestorm.” Fauci, who served on the White House Coronavirus Task Force under both Trump and Biden, is set to appear before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Georgetown University, where he holds professorships, has not responded to comment requests.
